Unfortunately the spot was closed due to quarantine measures set by local (and federal) authorities, but despite that it's worth to visit the beautiful surroundings and the amazing landscape in front of the cafe lawn. A beautiful view to the Lower Alps, the Ammergebirge, the Forggensee will totally made your day! And I know it from my own experience...

Café Maria is beautifully located directly on the Forggensee. From the terrace you have a wonderful view of the lake. I had a serving of side sausage with bread. Unfortunately there was no bread but only a very cheap Aufbackbrötchen. The sausages were very tasty. The lady who served me was very friendly. The second waitress, however, is a lethal injection ...... I overheard two or three conversations between customers and this waitress and found this to be very unfriendly on the part of the waitress. The restaurant and the terrace are very clean. The Corona protective measures were all observed during my visit meinem

We were satisfied with both the hygiene regulations and the service. Coffee and cake were delicious and the view of the lake was unique. We will be back.

One star is actually still too many ... we were greeted with the words “when you come in and open the door, it pulls”. So we shouldn't have entered the café. Then we were completely ignored. Unfortunately, the ladies missed their job completely.

We went there by bike from Hopfensee today to stand in front of closed doors because of the day off. Even more people did not know this. We weren't the only ones who left sad and hungry at the same time. In terms of the weather, it was a super nice sunny day after the downpour the day before. The location of this cafe is unique on Lake Forggensee. We enjoyed the view and the idyll on the bike saddle.

We wanted to have a coffee and a piece of cake after a hiking tour. From the first moment we felt like unwanted "foreign bodies". The strudel tasted like it had been warmed up several times and was encased in an "impenetrable" crust. The coffee tasted like tin. Criticism was not accepted by the staff or ignored.

She then came to out table only 5 mins after and was explicitly rude again. Had no desire to stay there. Cafe Maria is the only one place in the area. So, that is what monopoly does to the business apparently. Never have I seen this attitude in catering before.

The staff is very unfriendly, you don't get a card, it's shabby and the toilets are in a disastrous condition, not to mention the prices - 4 cups of coffee and 4 apple strudel for 33.50 - heavy.

The only thing that was really awesome was the view - and that there was 0.5l of Diet Coke and not 0.2 / 0.33. The two waitresses were very rude. We asked for a card and were then snapped at what we wanted by the elderly lady - then you could tell us what is available. Then I just ordered 2 Diet Cokes - and that only because I ordered it quickly, my partner actually wanted to go again right away. We also got a place in the sun without shade. In response to a friendly question (I quickly get a sunstroke) from the young waitress, the older one was hard to reach, we were then told to move to the shade is not possible, the colleague will have already done it so that it fits. In the beer garden downstairs, all (also shady) places would have been free, they weren't occupied and you weren't allowed to pay for your drink and switch to the lower area. When other guests dared to sit down there, this could still be heard from a 10 meter radius. After the chairs on the terrace were so narrow that no one over a woman size 44 could sit comfortably without their hips being squashed (the chairs in the beer garden area would have been more pleasant here too) we had a drink and left. Would have liked to have spent more time here but in such uncomfortable and unfriendly conditions we drove again after 20 minutes. By the way, during this time a woman came with two children (around 5 and 7) and wanted to buy an ice cream for the children to take away. The unfriendly older waitress then loudly emphasized "we don't have anything like that", "we don't have" etc. - so that the poor lady then left again.

So, here's my opinion (absolutely subjective): In the run-up to the visit, I looked at the reviews and was really curious to see how things really go in Cafe Maria. And yes, the service is characterized by a rustic, robust style, but I can live with that, nothing is meant here. I can understand if one or the other has their problems with it, I personally don't mind that. The food was delicious (only the sausage salad could have used a little more pep), the location is bombshell anyway and the rooms are comfortable and clean. You could only work on the water pressure in the shower, which was a tough affair. Otherwise, however, we enjoyed our stay and will certainly stop by again when the opportunity arises.

My warm meal came 15 minutes before my friend's salad, bad timing. We were waiting a long time after we were done to maybe get a dessert but eventually walked up to the bar to pay, it took way too long. Views of the lake are beautiful though.

I went to lunch in the garden area with my 92 year old, severely disabled mother. Very friendly, helpful service, who immediately brought a variety of seat and support cushions from the interior. We ate an excellent, grilled char fillet, crispy skin and firm, juicy meat, served on a bed of spicy leaf spinach. In addition, perfectly cooked chives potatoes and a frothy-creamy lemon butter sauce that lives up to its name. Top notch!

Great place with an amazing view. Atrocious service, we left after 10 minutes without anyone caring to assign us a table or showing up. Other people left, too.

We did not see the sign at the entrance to wait to be seated, so we went straight to pick a table. The waitress was shouting at us to go back. She was very rude. Then as well a guest started to shout at us that there was a sign saying to wait. I never saw in my life such rude people in hospitality Services. Really shame! It is such a nice place at the lake, but the people make you run away. We didn’t feel welcome at all, so we left.

The service was not even satisfactory, from good, far away, the fries were lukewarm, had ordered me a cream puff, after everyone had their food at the table and had almost eaten, I asked a service person about my cream puff. It's over. They hadn't even bothered to inform me. After another 10, our waitress came and asked me if I wanted something else, I said no.
